She-Hulk # 16

This is another great issue of She-Hulk written by Dan Slott and drawn by Rick Burchett. It seems Shulkie is doing quite well as a new draftee by SHIELD. This time they got her on a mission to subdue Wendigo in the wilds of Northern Canada. Wolverine makes a guest appearance so you know She-Hulk is on a roll. With Wolverine, Wendigo, and a female Hulk all in the same issue, it’s obvious this is a comedic version of a similar encounter way back in issues #180-181 of The Incredible Hulk. That was Wolverine's 1st appearance for all you non-fanboys. Except this time She-Hulk makes a pass at Logan rather than getting into a fight with him as the Hulk did. The Hulk = angry, while the She-Hulk = horny?

Here’s a quote from Marvel’s website:

PLANET WITOUT A HULK: Part 2 of 4
"When the Hulk's away... SHE-HULK SMASH!" It's more two-fisted action as SHE-HULK, AGENT OF S.H.I.E.L.D., faces off against
Hulk-rogues around the globe! And this time she's brought some company: the one and only WOLVERINE! That's right, true believers! It's Green Genes and the Ol'Canucklehead in a tag-team like no other! So get ready for a smashin', slashin' slugfest that'll leave you cryin' for your mama, cryin' for more, and cryin' WEN-DI-GO!!!

She-Hulk looks great in this issue; in fact she sports a black bikini despite the full body suit on the cover. She looks kinda like the She-Hulk from the 1996 cartoon series. She’s sensuous and an ass-kicker. I also enjoyed that fact that she’s barefoot as well. I haven’t seen her run around like that since her savage days.

This issue has other stuff too, such as concerns with SHIELD not consulting with the Canadian supers and also catching up with She-Hulk’s cohorts at the legal office. But the prime focus is right were it needs to be on the knock down drag out fight with Wendigo. We get to see a bunch of Shukie’s green blood, in quite a startling manner. The fastball special comes into it (for X-men fans in the know) and Wolverine turns Jenny down with one of the best lines in comics ever. She-Hulk #16 is well illustrated, set’s future plots in a non-distracting way, has a great superhero fight, and proves once again why She-Hulk is the best superhero ever. Oh and why Dan Slott rocks!

She-Hulk #16 gets:
5 out 5 Green Kisses

Spanish She-Hulk

How do you translate She-Hulk into Spanish? Simple just add an 'A' to the Hulk's name, thus you get Hulka. It’s very Latin don't you think?

Thanks to this thread on the John Byrne forum.

She-Hulk on Benny Hill

On the Benny Hill Show, the eponymous famous British comedian, produced a parody of our Green Goddess. In a skit, a defenseless woman is sexually harassed so badly she bursts out into She-Hulk form. Of course that just gets the guys even more excited. After tearing up a sign this She-Hulk bitch slaps the men around and give them the punishment they deserve. I never thought I’d ever want to be Benny Hill but this is one time I would have died to be in his place. She-Hulk with a whip yum.

This clip is from episode #69 :D and aired: 2/11/1981 almost 2 years after She-Hulk’s comic book premiere. Benny sure knew how to take his lumps huh! Sadly there isn’t any sound so we can’t hear the hilarious music.

The Incredible She-Hulk

She-Hulk regularly appeared on the The Incredible Hulk animated TV show from 1996. Her personality on the show reflected the Sensational She-Hulk of the contemporary comics rather than the earlier Savage version. The TV executives wanted a happier, female friendly program so The Incredible Hulk was revamped with more comedy and even renamed The Incredible Hulk and She-Hulk for the second season. Sadly fans didn’t like the change and so it was cancelled. *sniff* Let me take a moment…
In this clip we see Jennifer Walters transform into She-Hulk for the first time. She’s a prisoner of Doctor Doom, yeah that villan from Fantastic Four, but she precedes to kick his but and save her cousin Bruce. Her transformation is rather exhilarating, and gives me all kinds of dirty feelings that I shouldn’t have… or maybe I should have them?
The Episode is called Doomed after Dr. Doom of course but it should have been called She-Hulked don’t you think? (Unfortunately the embed has been disabled so you have to click on this LINK TO SHE-HULK CLIP to watch it on youtube.)

Here another short clip of Jennifer transforming into She-Hulk with her dinner dress on. You'll notice her brown hair when in normal human form.

The Incredible Hulk cartoon has been released on DVD. On Amazon.com it is labeled as the 1982 series which is wrong. Don’t worry it’s the 1996 version.

She-Hulk in Wonder Women

I came across the book Wonder Women by Lillian Robinson today. It looks at the history of female superheroes with a feminist perspective. You can read excerpts with She-Hulk if you go to google books and search for Lillian Robinson and She-Hulk. From her perspective She-Hulk is less a role model for female empowerment and sisterhood but rather simply about raw female power. I coulda’ told her that. As this book came out in 2004 the sections on She-Hulk are about the Savage and Sensational versions and the transition between the two rather than the current series by Dan Slott. Seeing as how Lillian Robinson died in September of 2006 this book won't ever be updated, and that is too bad. I’d have liked to see her insights on the new She-Hulk series.

Dan Slott chimes in on She-Hulk movie

Dan Slott, the current writer on She-Hulk, gives his reaction to the Nicolas Cage rumors of a She-Hulk movie. Thanks to comic2film.

What now? I'll tell you what now. Soon as I heard the media buzz I called up my agent in L.A.! I said, "Michael, do whatever you can. Knock on every door. I gotta pitch a treatment for this!" Seriously, I've been working on this book since 2003! I've been living with this character and her world inside my head for four years. I SO know how you'd do this movie! And Eva Mendes? She'd make a great She-Hulk! I know this's all floating around in the rumor phase, but still... C'mon! That'd be so cool!

I still think this movie rumor is BS, but if it were going to happen I’d love for Dan to write it. Maybe it could have a guest appearance by Wolverine. He's already a movie star!

Swinebread's Savage She-Hulk Sensations

Swinebread has a nice blog entry on his relationship to the She-Hulk character. He gets all touchy feely and women's lib, but its a thoughtful post. He hasn't quite learned to get on his knees and beg for Shulkie’s love yet, but maybe there's hope for him (I doubt it).

Enter: She-Hulk

She-Hulk appeared in the Incredible Hulk cartoon from 1982. She was in the 11th episode and her story closely followed her Savage comic book personality of the time. The Episode was called Enter: She-Hulk. God I love that title.

Here are some clips:

Hopefully someone will post more cartoons on youtube.

She-Hulk Movie?

Could there be a She-Hulk movie coming? I came across this story on the web over the weekend. This quote posted on rotten tomatoes states:

During a recent press stop to promote this Friday's "Ghost Rider," lead actor Nicolas Cage dropped a geeky little comic-book bomb on the crowd. Apparently (and according to IESB.net) he's trying to talk Marvel Entertainment into not only mounting a "She-Hulk" movie, but he also really wants his "GR" co-star Eva Mendes to land the title role.

I happen to think this rumor is total BS because they need a successful Hulk movie first.

Besides no actress could my do my Jade Giantess justice

Preamble

Hi, I’m some miserable slob who isn’t worth the ground that She-Hulk walks on. Hopefully, this blog will get her attention. Through, news, reviews, and adoration maybe, just maybe I’ll be good enough that she’ll let me kiss her feet one day. But I'll still settle for a good punch in the face. Let the Gamma Dreams begin. *sigh* more to come. I'm gonna' go cry now...
